We all know the importance of a good first impression. When designing your website try to keep a few basic rules in mind. Your website should be clean looking, easy to navigate, quick to upload and offer your visitors a lot of valuable content.

Websites full of graphics (pictures), sound, pictured backgrounds take longer to upload and can be confusing… not to mention difficult on the eyes. Especially for the MT market where you’ll have busy doctors and office workers looking at your website you’ll want it to be pleasing on the eye and easy to navigate.

6 Tips for Designing a Professional Looking Website:

Stay away from too many graphics. In some cases a few well chosen pictures will compliment your website content, but too many flashy or animated graphics will do more harm than good.
Do not use colored or pictured background. A plain white background is always best. This will make your words stand out and be sensitive to the eyes of your readers.
Do not use too many font types or colors. Choose one or maximum two font types and colors and stick to them throughout your website. A good standard font to use is Arial or Verdana. Always opt for black for the main writing and only add color to differentiate headlines.
Have a clear navigation menu. People always expect the navigation menu on the left hand side. Have a clear heading of all the important things you want people to see, such as services, turnaround time, clients, etc. Don’t forget to include contact information.
Build a site map if possible. This will make it easy for your users as well as the search engines to find what they are looking for. Some programs such as XSitePro will build an automatic site map for you. With other programs you’ll need to build and add to your site map.
Provide valuable, well written information and content. Give people what they are looking for. Put yourself in their shoes and think what exactly will someone looking at my website want. Always, fulfil the needs of your customers first and you will have achieved your first success.
