Free Typing Test

If you're serious about medical transcription, you already know one of the skills you really need to have is a fast typing speed.  In transcription, the faster you type the more money you earn.  If you can't type very well or fast at this time, don't worry.  A little daily practice will get you up to speed in no time.  Typing is a skill which can easily be taught with practice and patience... so be persistent!

Here's a simple free typing test for you to test your skills.  For more free typing test options, simply type "free typing test" or "free online typing test" into your browser and you'll find a list of sites offering tests.  Choose the one you feel most comfortable with and give it a try.

To really improve your speed and accuracy, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, is one of the most popular amongst MTs.  I used this during my MT training (my teacher recommended it) and went from a measly 16 wpm to over 80 wpm in 2 months.  I highly recommend it.
